Wedding DJ Business - Great Opportunity For The Right People

Wedding Disc JockeySouth Of Boston

“Keith Hamlin began disc jockeying as a student at Whitman-Hanson Regional High School in 1978, working mostly junior high dances. He joined the Air Force after graduating in 1980 and honed his skills working clubs and parties while stationed in Madrid from 1982 to 1984.

When he left military service in 1989, Hamlin immediately took his DJ’ing passion full time, starting Just Dance Music Productions and getting deep into the wedding industry.

As a wedding disc jockey, Hamlin charges - $1,200 for four hours and $200 for each additional hour. He says the cost goes toward extensive planning of every aspect of a wedding’s entertainment.

‘‘I do a lot of homework,’’ said Hamlin, who said he spent 22 hours preparing for a recent Indian wedding. ‘‘I ask a lot of questions, questions I think a lot of DJ’s stopped asking because they’re not getting paid enough to spend that extra time.’’

‘‘I could make a fortune if I hired 25 more DJ’s,’’ Hamlin said. ‘I prefer not to. I prefer to strictly stick with quality.’”
