Web Entrepreneurs Find a Wide-open Niche Marketing to Baby Boomer Crowd
The Internet marketplace is feasting its eyes on 78 million baby boomers who, according to surveys, have embraced this virtual world to do more than e-mail family and friends.
In April, entrepreneur Herschel “Buzz” Peddicord launched Boomertowne.com. Within months he had an estimated 9,000 baby boomers signed up for free membership. And Jeff Taylor, founder of online job site Monster.com, a year ago created Eons.com for people 50-plus. Today, an estimated 850,000 have passwords at eons.com.
Recently, a boomers-only online dating site, prime.lavalife.com, opened its virtual doors to a generation accustomed to being courted by the marketplace.
It’s hard to ignore 78 million people. Especially folks in their 40s, 50s and 60s who wield an estimated $4.1 trillion buying clout, according to MarketResearch.com…
