“Stratman, a pilot for a major airline, started his business (transfering photographs to canvas) after the company filed for bankruptcy.
“I decided to take more control of my financial life,” he said.
He chose an Internet-based business because startup costs are low and the potential customer base is worldwide.
Strengths: Perfectionism and honesty serve him well.
“I won’t let a picture go out to a customer if I don’t feel it is high enough quality,” Stratman said. “If that means spending a lot of extra time getting it just right, I don’t hesitate to do it.”
Stratman said if he can’t improve poor-quality photos, he turns down orders.
“Rather than be mad, the few customers that I have had to do this to have been very grateful for my honesty,” he said.
Rewards: “I get great satisfaction knowing that customers are getting a beautiful print that they are going to hang in their house to show off,” Stratman said.”
