StatCounter Founder Wins BusinessWeek “Young Entrepreneur” Award

Post Chronicle:

“Irish upstart and entrepreneur Aodhan Cullen built his web analytic tool, StatCounter, at the tender age of 16 in his hometown of Dublin, Ireland. Cullen was looking for a way to help his web page clients as way to see the number of “hits” they would get on their websites, along with other measurements, such as where the visitors were coming from what pages they were viewing and the keywords they were using that took them to the site.

Well, the hard-working youngster is now all of 24 years-old, and has made a name for himself the world over by snaring the big prize of “Young Entrepreneur Of The Year” from BusinessWeek magazine.

Cullen launched Dublin-based StatCounter in 1999, finding himself immersed in a now-estimated $400 million market that analysts expect to more than double by next year.

BusinessWeeks says Cullen’s company “stood out for its strong growth…with more than 1.5 million users and a system that tracks more than 9 billion page views per month across its network of 2.2 million Web sites.” Cullen won’t discuss revenues for the privately held company, but says he’s signing up 1,500 new members per day, reports BusinessWeek.”
