Entrepreneur Starts Beverage Company and Writes about the Process
When Mike Gilbert spilled orange juice on his pants in the late 1990s, it caused more than just a stain.
For Gilbert, an aspiring entrepreneur at the time, it was his “Eureka!” moment and the rest has been fizzy delicious history.
Gilbert is the creator of The Switch, a carbonated 100 percent juice beverage that got its start in Richmond, Va. Though he sold The Switch to Texas-based Beverage Acquisition Co. in February 2006, Gilbert recently published a book titled “The Switch Effect: A Real-Life Example of How to Become an Entrepreneur” (Palari Publishing, $16.95). The book chronicles his life story and offers a step-by-step, how-to look at becoming an entrepreneur and business owner. In the book, he intermingles his own trials and tribulations with the business and marketing strategies he includes over the book’s 200 pages.
Though the book will hit the shelves later this month, Richmond.com was able to read an advance copy and caught up with Gilbert before he started his upcoming book tour…
