“Driven by the desire to provide nutritious food for babies, Whitby-based entrepreneur Tanya Moore is taking her business to a new level.

Healthy Sprouts, a line of organic baby food launched by Ms. Moore in late 2004, will now be available in mainstream grocery stores — such as A and P and Dominion — throughout Ontario and Quebec.

“To finally have Healthy Sprouts on the shelves was a huge accomplishment,” she said of her initial launch into specialized stores in May 2006. “The next step was to sell it into retailers at the health food level, educate consumers on both the benefits of frozen organic baby food and build awareness to drive customers to the frozen section.”

Healthy Sprouts organic baby food is harvested, pureed and frozen quickly to lock in nutrients and flavours, she said. It is available in portioned cups containing the average amount of food required for each age group.

An ambitious entrepreneur, Ms. Moore says the experience has thus far been challenging, but also rewarding and exciting. To have the product available in grocery stores is a dream come true.”
