Canadian Entrepreneur Takes Advantage Of Hot Real Estate Market

The booming Toronto condominium market means business opportunities for more than just real estate agents.

Adam Roach, 26, has been recruiting people to secure spots in line for agents, for up to a week at a time, so that they can get their first pick when new condominium developments go on sale.

He told 680News about his plan as he waited at Yonge and Bloor streets this past week in what turned into a selling frenzy.

“We call it ‘urban camping’ actually. We make the real estate agents happy. If we don’t have the spots, we don’t get paid,” he said.

“Real estate agents don’t want to sit out in the cold, but they have to reserve spots because their clients want the first pick,” Roach added.

The former skateboard shop owner already has a team of eight people at his company, Save Your Spot. His company can make up to $2,000 each time for waiting in line, but it depends on the property.
